The learning project keeps together highly qualified experts with a long academic teaching and professional background in the fields of GIScience and of socio-economic and environmental applications.
Under the scientific supervision of the project founder Ezio Crestaz and with the support of the mascotte, the team, today actively involved in the project and responsible for a high quality teaching target, includes profiles relevant to following research and application fields:
- GIScience strictu senso, focused on architecture and development of relational databases and geodatabases, software development of OO and component-based geoapplications, both stand-alone and for distributed environments (Web), design and implementation of GISs, mapping, geostatistical and spatial statistics in environmental and socio economic areas;
- EISs (Environmental Information Systems), application area focused on development of Spatial Decision Support Systems (SDSSs) addressing environmental issues by integrating geospatial basic functionalities with advanced numerical modelling for assessment and optimisation of sustainable exploitation, protection and remediation policies. Specific areas of interest include environmental management from a technical and legislative point of view and groundwater flow and transport modelling.
